[Liverweb] Dudek Robbery and other News

Jerzy Dudek has been left devastated by a robbery at his Wirral home
as thieves made off with his career's worth of footballing
memorabilia - including the Champions League winners medal from
Istanbul.

The Polish goalkeeper returned from holiday to find thieves had got
away with more than 120 items, including his Champions League final
shirt, World Cup 2002 shirt and Worthington Cup final shirt from
2005.

Dudek's car was also taken along with a number of other personal
possessions.

A spokesman for Liverpool FC said: "A lot of this stuff which has
been stolen is irreplaceable and you can't put a price on it. Jerzy
is obviously devastated.

"We are talking about the memorabilia of someone's career and also a
lifetime.

"Jerzy was made famous by what he did in the Champions League and
for someone to have gone into his house and stolen it is despicable.

"On behalf of the club and the player we would ask anyone with
information to contact either us or Merseyside police."

A police spokeswoman said: "Merseyside police is investigating
reports of a burglary at a house in Caldy, Wirral.

""The burglary was reported by a friend of the owner on Monday, June
19 and was thought to have happened within the last week while the
homeowners were away on holiday.

"The homeowner arrived back in the country late last night and
police officers will be speaking to him today to find out exactly
what has been stolen although it known that a black Porsche Carrera
has definitely been stolen.

"There were a large number of distinctive items of memorabilia
stolen which obviously have sentimental value to the owner.

"If anyone spots them being sold on the internet or in the local
shops or in their local pub, it will be obvious that they are
special items.

"We would urge anyone who spots them on sale to call Crimestoppers
on 0800 555 111."

The haul included:

Champions League 2005 winners' medal

More than 100 international and Premiership goalkeeper shirts,
including a Champion's League final shirt, World Cup 2002 shirt, and
a 2005 Worthington Cup Final shirt

Pair of World Cup final goalkeeper's gloves with Dudek's name on the
wrist

Five pairs of Adidas World Cup goalkeeper gloves, also bearing
Dudek's name on the strap

A selection of medals including a winner's medal from the 2005
Champions' League, a UEFA Super Cup medal, a 2004 Worthington Cup
medal, and other medals

A number of limited edition framed pictures

Small plasma TV

Two gold rings

Red limited edition LFC shirt, numbered "1 of 10,000"

Frank Muller watch engraved with the words: Champion's League
Winner, one of only 36 ever made

Rolex watch, Mariner's style, with box, worth £2,500

Cartier watch inscribed with the words: 100 Years of the Dutch
Football Association

Gold Amiga watch with gold face and black strap

Gucci men's watch with a blue square face and blue strap

Black Porsche Carrera car, worth an estimated £65,000, which has
distinctive Polish plates and is a left hand drive and has black
alloys

Silver strap with a square valued at £6,000

Craig Bellamy has been granted talks with the Reds after Blackburn
agreed to our fee and talks are expected to go well with a decision
coming soon on the striker's future.

In World Cup news Steven Gerrard wasagain on target for England last
night as they drew 2-2 with Sweden. Peter Crouch came on after 4
minutes as former Red Michael Owen went off injured. Jamie
Carragher play the full game although didn't have his greatest game
in my opinion.

One new site feature is in the Premier section of the site - How the
Reds fair when they are shown on SKY or PPV.

[Liverweb] Bellamy

From today's Echo confirmation that the Reds are after Craig Bellamy

LIVERPOOL have made a formal £6m bid for Blackburn striker Craig
Bellamy.

Rafa Benitez has ended speculation surrounding his much publicised
search for a top striker by testing the validity of claims Bellamy
has an exit clause in his contract.

With Bellamy desperate for a transfer to Anfield, Liverpool now
expect to be given permission to talk to the Welsh striker.

The 25-year-old is certain to react to today's developments by
urging his club to accept the offer.
The outcome of talks between Bellamy and Benitez will then determine
if Liverpool want to press ahead with a deal.

It's known Benitez harboured concerns about the off-field history of
the centre-forward, but the players' footballing skills have made
him the most highly rated of all those Premiership-based stars
linked with a move to Liverpool.

Blackburn were one of the most improved teams in the Premiership
last season, largely down to Bellamy's goalscoring threat and
contribution. The Spanish boss will now want to meet Bellamy and
assess if he has the right mentality to join his club.

Bellamy's eagerness for the transfer, however, has already proven an
influential factor and he's unlikely to blow his opportunity now.

The former Newcastle and Coventry striker jumped to the top of the
wanted list following Djibril Cisse's unfortunate injury, but his
£6m clause always made a Reds bid likely.

Benitez already rated Bellamy above the likes of Darren Bent and
Jermaine Defoe, but was cautious due to his bad boy reputation.

The loss of an £8m kitty due to Cisse's injury made Benitez feel
Bellamy's bargain price made him a risk worth taking. Bellamy is
also a boyhood Liverpudlian having hero worshipped the legendary Ian
Rush as a youngster.

His imminent arrival could trigger a busy period, as the Red have
also increased their offer for Daniel Alves to an estimated £10m.

Alves is also determined to move to Merseyside, but Seville are
holding on for £12m. Marseille are negotiating a possible loan deal
for Djibril Cisse, but no agreement has been reached for the injured
striker yet.

In other transfer rumours the Reds are looking at Both Javier
Saviola who will leave Barcelona this summer and also are said to be
close to a deal for Dirk Kuyt.

In other news the world cup of course is dominating most things with
Gerrard, Crouch and Kewell all playing their part so far as their
countries won. Jan Kromkamp didn't play for the Netherlands though
as they won 1-0.

Djibril Cisse is still interesting Gerard Houllier at Lyon and
Marseille are watching on too. All of this will be dependent on the
French striker winning his bid to get fit again after his broken
leg. He should be back playing by November so a move in January
isn't out of the question yet.

The rumours going around tend to be about players coming in and the
latest are Mauro Camorenesi and David Trezeguet from Juventus. The
Italian side are expected to be relegated in the huge Italian
Football scandal of the moment and players may be offloaded.

Didi Hamann is still to decide on whether to leave the club or not.
He is due to return to England soon.

[Liverweb] Latest news

The world cup has of course started which we'll all be watching
closely. half time as i write in the Germany Costa Rica game.

Didi Hamann has been given permission to speak to Bolton over a proposed
move that may net the Reds 500,000 depending on appearances. The German
has been told he has limited chances next season for the Reds and therefore
allowed to speak to Bolton.

The Reds are now hopeful that Djibril Cisse could be back playing by
November this year after his operation went well on his broken leg. They
are hopefl that this one is more straightforward.

and back to the world cup

No Reds in action today

[Liverweb] Latest news

Djibril Cisse is out of the world cup after breaking his right leg
last night in the final pre tournament friendly for France.

Cisse was trying to shake of his marker in the game against China and
after minimal contact fell awkwardly and broke his leg. This also
means that his transfer to Marseille could well be in doubt for a
while now.

Steven Gerrard sat out England training again with a sore back but
he's expected to be ok for the England opener on Saturday afternoon.

In site news I have now completed putting on all of the Reds FA Youth
Cup results back to 1952-3 when the tournament started. They appear
in the season archive under Youth. Those youth section files also
include every result of the Reds in the Lancashire Senior Cup. The
Reds competed in the tournament until 1974 when boundary changes took
the Reds into Merseyside only and not Lancashire.

Rafa Benitez has signed a new four year deal with the club. It is
aimed to show his commitment to the club.

Benitez is quoted in the Echo "There was never going to be a problem
once we reached an agreement last season, and now all the documents
have been signed and sent to the club.

"I'm very happy at Liverpool and hope we can enjoy more success in
the seasons to come."

Benitez's new deal represents a one-year extension, keeping him on
Merseyside to 2010.

More significantly, it ends any remote, lingering hope of
managerless Real Madrid luring the Liverpool boss back to the
Bernabeu.

Liverpool's chief executive Rick Parrysays he's thrilled Benitez has
committed the next four years to helping Liverpool battle for more
honours.

"We are absolutely delighted Rafa has put pen to paper on this deal
today," Parry said.

"The day we shook hands last season was when we really knew he was
committing his future to us and we knew he was a man of his word and
he'd sign the contract this summer.

"This contract is not about financial reward, but about Rafa's
belief he can take the club even further forward.

"We are sure the club is in safe hands under this manager and we
have someone who shares the vision of everyone connected to
Liverpool."

Benitez has now returned to Merseyside after a family holiday and
will step up the chase for more new recruits this summer.

Liverpool are well ahead of their rivals in their pursuit for Daniel
Alves, but may have to be patient in negotiating a realistic fee
with Seville.

It's understood the Brazilian midfielder has privately made the
decision to join Liverpool this summer.

Sevilla have recently put a £12.3m price tag on the star which is at
least £4m more than the Reds were prepared to pay.

Meanwhile, French giants Marseille are set to battle with Lyon all
the way for Djibril Cisse.

Champions Lyon, managed by Gerard Houllier, were believed to be in
pole position to sign the 24-year-old, but Marseille are in
negotiations with Liverpool over a fee of around £8m.

Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas said: "Gerard Houllier signed him at
Liverpool, so he is a player he likes. Also, Cisse knows Sylvain
Wiltord very well.

"As Djibril has stated, Lyon could be a destination for him. We will
study the situation more closely, maybe even during the two days
break the French team has this weekend."

Cardiff have had talks over signing Scott Carson on a season-long
loan.

Liverpool are unsure about allowing the England squad player to have
another season away from Anfield, but that depends on whether Jerzy
Dudek stays on at the club as Jose Reina's number two.

In other rumours doing the rounds from todays papers - Pablo Aimar
may be available for £5m from Valencia.

Djimi Traore is attracting interest from Monaco and talks are likely
to take place for the Liverpool defender.

Chris Kirkland has been linked with a move to Wigan - although it
may only be on loan.

Steed Malbranque is again being linked with a move to Anfield.

Meanwhile Adidas have come out and said that the shirts for
Liverpool fc 2006-07 selling on ebay are all fake. They are now
working to find out the source of the fakes in Thailand. They are
also working with ebay to remove any sales of the kits. They warn
people not to but the kits unless they want to waste their money.

Academy striker Conal Platt has joined Bournemouth in a one year
deal. The Irish youth international was allowed to leave the Reds
at the end of the season and impressed during a trial.

Finally a warning to anyone who has ordered PremPlus on Sky for
£50. Check your account that you haven't been charged £100 by
istake. If you have customer services will sort it out straight
away. At least two people have had this happen.

The Reds are soon to see Bruno Cheyrou back at Melwood. The
midfielder has been on loan at Bordeaux all season but they decided
he wasn't worth the £2 million asking price. Cheyrou has just one
more season left on his contract now and is free to find a club
anywhere.

Djibril Cisse is on the way out of the door as well. He has said
that Lyon, Marseille and PSG are all interested in him and that he
is interested in them after being frozen out in his eyes by Rafa
Benitez. The Reds are hopeful of a fee around £10 million

Djimi Traore is also available for around £2 million.

Other Reds available include Salif Diao, Le Tallec, Raven,
Whitbread, Mellor and Kirkland.

One player not going though is Luis Garcia who Rafa has said he
intends to keep and is still very much part of his plans at Anfield.

In transfer gossip the Reds are interested still in Jermaine Pennant
from Birmingham and Daniel Alves of Sevilla.

Jamie Carragher tonight is expected to play the holding role in
midfield for England. Steven Gerrard is expected to play up front
with Michael Owen against Hungary.

Meanwhile Mark Gonzalez is threatening not to play for Chile again.
He was thrown out of the recent Chile squad by hismanager after he
and his team mate were found to have three women in their bedrooms.
