[Liverweb] Dudek Robbery and other News

Jerzy Dudek has been left devastated by a robbery at his Wirral home
as thieves made off with his career's worth of footballing
memorabilia - including the Champions League winners medal from
Istanbul.

The Polish goalkeeper returned from holiday to find thieves had got
away with more than 120 items, including his Champions League final
shirt, World Cup 2002 shirt and Worthington Cup final shirt from
2005.

Dudek's car was also taken along with a number of other personal
possessions.

A spokesman for Liverpool FC said: "A lot of this stuff which has
been stolen is irreplaceable and you can't put a price on it. Jerzy
is obviously devastated.

"We are talking about the memorabilia of someone's career and also a
lifetime.

"Jerzy was made famous by what he did in the Champions League and
for someone to have gone into his house and stolen it is despicable.

"On behalf of the club and the player we would ask anyone with
information to contact either us or Merseyside police."

A police spokeswoman said: "Merseyside police is investigating
reports of a burglary at a house in Caldy, Wirral.

""The burglary was reported by a friend of the owner on Monday, June
19 and was thought to have happened within the last week while the
homeowners were away on holiday.

"The homeowner arrived back in the country late last night and
police officers will be speaking to him today to find out exactly
what has been stolen although it known that a black Porsche Carrera
has definitely been stolen.

"There were a large number of distinctive items of memorabilia
stolen which obviously have sentimental value to the owner.

"If anyone spots them being sold on the internet or in the local
shops or in their local pub, it will be obvious that they are
special items.

"We would urge anyone who spots them on sale to call Crimestoppers
on 0800 555 111."

The haul included:

Champions League 2005 winners' medal

More than 100 international and Premiership goalkeeper shirts,
including a Champion's League final shirt, World Cup 2002 shirt, and
a 2005 Worthington Cup Final shirt

Pair of World Cup final goalkeeper's gloves with Dudek's name on the
wrist

Five pairs of Adidas World Cup goalkeeper gloves, also bearing
Dudek's name on the strap

A selection of medals including a winner's medal from the 2005
Champions' League, a UEFA Super Cup medal, a 2004 Worthington Cup
medal, and other medals

A number of limited edition framed pictures

Small plasma TV

Two gold rings

Red limited edition LFC shirt, numbered "1 of 10,000"

Frank Muller watch engraved with the words: Champion's League
Winner, one of only 36 ever made

Rolex watch, Mariner's style, with box, worth £2,500

Cartier watch inscribed with the words: 100 Years of the Dutch
Football Association

Gold Amiga watch with gold face and black strap

Gucci men's watch with a blue square face and blue strap

Black Porsche Carrera car, worth an estimated £65,000, which has
distinctive Polish plates and is a left hand drive and has black
alloys

Silver strap with a square valued at £6,000

Craig Bellamy has been granted talks with the Reds after Blackburn
agreed to our fee and talks are expected to go well with a decision
coming soon on the striker's future.

In World Cup news Steven Gerrard wasagain on target for England last
night as they drew 2-2 with Sweden. Peter Crouch came on after 4
minutes as former Red Michael Owen went off injured. Jamie
Carragher play the full game although didn't have his greatest game
in my opinion.

One new site feature is in the Premier section of the site - How the
Reds fair when they are shown on SKY or PPV.

[Liverweb] Bellamy

From today's Echo confirmation that the Reds are after Craig Bellamy

LIVERPOOL have made a formal £6m bid for Blackburn striker Craig
Bellamy.

Rafa Benitez has ended speculation surrounding his much publicised
search for a top striker by testing the validity of claims Bellamy
has an exit clause in his contract.

With Bellamy desperate for a transfer to Anfield, Liverpool now
expect to be given permission to talk to the Welsh striker.

The 25-year-old is certain to react to today's developments by
urging his club to accept the offer.
The outcome of talks between Bellamy and Benitez will then determine
if Liverpool want to press ahead with a deal.

It's known Benitez harboured concerns about the off-field history of
the centre-forward, but the players' footballing skills have made
him the most highly rated of all those Premiership-based stars
linked with a move to Liverpool.

Blackburn were one of the most improved teams in the Premiership
last season, largely down to Bellamy's goalscoring threat and
contribution. The Spanish boss will now want to meet Bellamy and
assess if he has the right mentality to join his club.

Bellamy's eagerness for the transfer, however, has already proven an
influential factor and he's unlikely to blow his opportunity now.

The former Newcastle and Coventry striker jumped to the top of the
wanted list following Djibril Cisse's unfortunate injury, but his
£6m clause always made a Reds bid likely.

Benitez already rated Bellamy above the likes of Darren Bent and
Jermaine Defoe, but was cautious due to his bad boy reputation.

The loss of an £8m kitty due to Cisse's injury made Benitez feel
Bellamy's bargain price made him a risk worth taking. Bellamy is
also a boyhood Liverpudlian having hero worshipped the legendary Ian
Rush as a youngster.

His imminent arrival could trigger a busy period, as the Red have
also increased their offer for Daniel Alves to an estimated £10m.

Alves is also determined to move to Merseyside, but Seville are
holding on for £12m. Marseille are negotiating a possible loan deal
for Djibril Cisse, but no agreement has been reached for the injured
striker yet.

In other transfer rumours the Reds are looking at Both Javier
Saviola who will leave Barcelona this summer and also are said to be
close to a deal for Dirk Kuyt.
