Head to Head - Premiership Head to Head

LAST corresponding Fixture : Liverpool 3 Newcastle 1

Michael Owen returns to Anfield as a player for the first time in this
fixture. So far he has been scoring regularly for Newcastle United but his
former team mates will hope to keep him quiet on the day and take all three
points.

Squads : The Reds are without Momo Sissoko who is suspended after picking
up his fifth booking of the season last time out. Scott Parker suffers the
same fate for Newcastle.

Liverpool (from): Reina, Finnan, Carragher, Hyypia, Riise, Warnock, Traore,
Luis Garcia, Xabi Alonso, Gerrard, Hamann, Kewell, Cisse, Morientes,
Crouch, Josemi, Sinama-Pongolle, Carson.

Newcastle (from): Given, Harper, Carr, Ramage, Babayaro, Elliott, Boumsong,
Bramble, Taylor, Faye, Emre, Solano, Luque, Ameobi, Bowyer, N'Zogbia,
Clark, Brittain, Shearer, Owen, Chopra.

Team Stats : The Reds are aiming for their 250th Premiership win. This is
their 522nd game so far. A win would also be their 1900th in league football.

Should Newcastle manage to score a goal it will be the 50th shipped in the
league under Rafa Benitez.

This is the 25th meeting of the two sides in the premiership and a win for
the Reds would be their 10th at Anfield. The only win at Anfield for
Newcastle in the Premiership came in their first season back in 1993-94
when they won 2-0.

The Reds have come from behind on three occasions to win in this fixture.
However on three occasions they have failed to win having gone into the lead.

Back in 1967 the Reds recorded their biggest league win over Newcastle
which was 6-0. Tony Hateley grabbed a hat-trick that day.

Player Stats : Luis Garcia needs one goal to make it to 20 in Liverpool
colours. His fellow countryman Fernando Morientes needs one goal to hit
double figures for Liverpool.

Stephen Warnock has come on nine times as a sub in the premiership for the
Reds. Luis Garcia has also come off the bench nine times for the Reds in
the league.

Djibril Cisse and Fernando Morientes have been subbed nine times in the
league so far for the Reds.

Michael Owen has 13 premiership goals in this fixture. His strike partner
Alan Shearer at Newcastle leads the way for them with 5 goals.

Referee : Mark Halsey

Betting : Liverpool 4/7, Newcastle 9/2, Draw : 23/10

Liverweb Prediction : Liverpool 3 Newcastle United 1
