Sao Paulo take on the Reds having made their way as expected to the final
of the World Club Championship. The Brazilian side saw off Al Ittihad in
the other semi final of the tournament.

Sao Paulo came to the tournament as reigning Copa Libertadores champions.
To even qualify for that tournament they must finish very high in the
Brazilian championship and then defeat other sides within South America.
They did that by beating Atletico Paranaense 5-1 on aggregate in the final.

Sao Paulo - known as Tricolores

The side has won the competition under it's old guise back in 1992 and
1993. Firstly they beat Barcelona in 92 and then retained the trophy the
following year when beating AC Milan. Those games back then represent the
other two occasions that the Brazilians have won the Copa Libertadores. On
top of that they have won 3 national championships and 21 state championships.

The side are an excellent outfit and certainly have one or two individuals
to watch out for. Cicinho - the long term replacement at right back for
Cafu in the Brazil side is an attacking defender. He is heavily tipped to
join Real Madrid in the new year.

The player that most eyes will be on though is Rogerio Ceni. He has over 45
goals to his name including one in this very tournament. The strange part
of this is that he is the Sao Paulo keeper. If they are awarded a penalty
kick or a direct free kick watch for the arrival of Ceni.

Squads :

Liverpool : Jerzy Dudek, Stephen Warnock, Steve Finnan, Sami Hyypia, John
Arne Riise, Harry Kewell, Steven Gerrard, Djibril Cisse, Luis Garcia,
Florent Sinama-Pongolle, Jose Reina, Scott Carson, Xabi Alonso,Peter
Crouch, Didi Hamann, Josemi, Fernando Morientes, Djimi Traore, Momo
Sissoko, Jamie Carragher.

Team Stats : This is the third time the Reds have taken part in the World
Club Championship. The other two occasions the Reds have lost in 1981 and
1984. Flamengo defeated the Reds 3-0 in December 1981. Then in 1984
Independientes defeated the Reds by a single goal to nil in Tokyo.

Player Stats : Luis Garcia will hope to score his 20th goal for the Reds in
this game.

Fernando Morientes is one goal shy of double figures in a Liverpool shirt.

Steven Gerrard leads the scoring charts for the Reds this season. He has 12
goals.

Betting : Liverpool Evens, Sao Paulo 23/10, Draw : 21/10

Overall Tournament Odds : Liverpool 8/15, Sao Paulo 11/8

Liverweb Prediction : Liverpool 2 Sao Paulo 0
