Didi Hamann is ready to extend his deal by another year with the Reds. He
signed a deal in Summer 05 which was for a year and an option to sign a
second year. It is now being reported that Didi is ready to sign that
extra year's option.

Harry Kewell meanwhile has hit out at his critics through the papers. The
piece first came in this weeks LFC magazine and is in one of the newspapers
today. In it he says -

"Everybody thought I had thrown it in.

"I could not believe the reaction from some people. I did not realise there
were so many qualified doctors watching the match. My groin just snapped.

"Some were saying my heart wasn't in it or I just wanted to go off."

Kewell was replaced by Vladimir Smicer and did not play again until he
turned out for Liverpool's reserves on 27 September.

But the Australia international, who has a long history of injury problems,
was unhappy with the way people jumped to conclusions.

"Even before the story was out properly they had diagnosed me and decided I
had quit," he added.

"Do people know I was the number one penalty taker on the pitch that night
in Istanbul?

"So why would I want to walk off in a game when I had a real chance of
getting on the scoresheet?"

Meanwhile Nice are said to be interested in a move for Florent Sinama
Pongolle. Nice are quoted as saying basically they have spoken to the Reds
but that's about it and they do say talks are not very advanced.

Darren Potter may leave the Reds in January for Hearts who are said to have
bid 750k for him.

Meanwhile Rafa Benitez has spoken about potential transfer targets in
January saying he won't just buy anyone.

"I always say it is like having a table with three legs - and you need to
get the other one to fit properly.

"It is the same in football. If you want to build a team, you have to get
the one that fits in."

He added: "In this case we have done it with four new players so far but we
want to get more.

"Every signing is important but now we are in a good position it is even
more so. We want to grow and we want to be positive."

Liverpool chairman David Moores, meanwhile, claims Benitez is proving
himself to be the best manager in the world.

Moores said: "I wouldn't swap Rafa for any manager in the world. If I had
to go back and make the appointment again, I know there couldn't be anyone
better.

"I really believe he is going to lead this club back to greatness. The team
is progressing and that's down to Rafa."

Meanwhile Wednesday afternoon saw the Reds take their annual trip to local
Children's hospital Alder Hey to visit the sick Kids their. The players
and staff handed out gifts to the kids and posed for questions whilst also
took along the European Cup.
