Liverpool hit by loss of Baros

Liverpool suffered a potentially massive blow after Milan Baros was injured
on international duty on Tuesday. The Czech Republic player is the only
experienced striker at Anfield after Djibril Cisse was ruled out for the
season with a broken leg last month.

But Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez now has even more problems after Baros
lasted just 17 minutes in the World Cup Group One qualifier in Macedonia.

The 23-year-old appeared to suffer a bad thigh injury after pulling up
dramatically while chasing a through-ball and was forced to limp off.

If scans reveal a muscle tear the striker could be out for at least six weeks.

Baros was top scorer at the European Championship in the summer and has
netted 10 times for Liverpool already this season, including a vital
hat-trick last weekend at home to Crystal Palace.

Injury to Baros will pose a headache for Benitez as the Merseysiders face a
tough schedule. They travel to Middlesbrough this weekend, before facing
Monaco in the Champions League on Tuesday, followed by a showdown with
champions Arsenal.
