[Liverweb] Weekly Viewpoint

MY VIEWPOINT 9 March 2006

Read me on the teletext fanzine pages at 511 on Wednesdays.

And so the European adventure is over for another year. The first
leg defeat had always made this match very tricky and that's how it
turned out. It didn't have to be this way though as the Reds
created chances and some were golden ones. As long as we have shot
shy strikers you leave yourself open to a sucker punch. That is
exactly what happened as well and once we let them score the hill
just got bigger to climb.

It's easy to moan about this or that not happening but we as fans
did what we always do. We got behind the team, even in defeat and
that's what makes us as fans so great. The road forward is a long
haul one and we all knew we still needed players to come in and help
us move forward. Perhaps there is a need for one or two more still
yet before we really take the next step.

Looking at the bench last night it was great to see two young lads
there as well for experience of nothing else. One of those in Paul
Anderson is a great talent and he will be ready with the other Reds
on Friday in the Youth Cup. Good luck to the young lads in trying
to emulate the last win ten years ago.

Good Luck Red Men!
