[Liverweb] Blackburn Game Move?

Liverpool have requested permission for their Premiership clash at
Blackburn Rovers on April 15 to be switched to another date.
The Reds had always hoped to find an alternative date for the game
to avoid a clash with the annual Hillsborough Memorial service at
Anfield, but a hectic fixture schedule ultimately made it impossible
and a kick-off time of 5.15pm proved to be the best solution.

With the Reds now out of the European Champions League, more dates
have been freed up in the club's footballing calendar and Chief
Executive Rick Parry has revealed they are now working to see if the
Ewood Park clash can be moved to a new date.

"This is an issue we were aware of right at the start of the season
and that's why we contacted the Hillsborough Families' Support group
last June and they said they accepted that, sadly, one day it might
be an inevitability that we'd have to play on April 15th," Parry
told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"We are aware of the significance of the day and, as I said at the
AGM, the solution we came up with was the best of a very bad range
at that time.

"When we were progressing in the FA Cup and the Champions League the
problem of finding a new date got bigger.

"Now we are out of Europe, there may be some scope to look once
again but it's not just our fixtures to consider, it's Blackburn's
as well and this is their home fixture at the end of the day.

"Even at this stage, if there's a chance to revisit it then I'm
prepared to do so and we have already been in touch with the Premier
League and Blackburn to ask the question."
