[Liverweb] Reserves Report

The Reds won last night down at Wolves in a game which saw Dan Agger
debut for the club. Didi Hamann scored from a free kick in his own
half to settle the game shortly after the hour mark. Report courtesy

DANIEL AGGER made his first appearance for the club as a strong
Liverpool reserve side defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 in the
Barclays FA Premier Reserve League North last night.

Agger was introduced as a half-time substitute as a wonder-strike
from Didi Hamann settled a one-sided affair in which Liverpool goal-
keeper David Martin did not have a single save to make.

Liverpool had the better of a low-key first half, and should have
taken the lead after just seven minutes when Hamann's excellent
through-ball released Florent Sinama-Pongolle but the French
youngster fluffed his shot and the ball went harm-lessly wide.

Sinama had another great chance five minutes later when good
interplay between Anderson and Kromka down the right ended with the
Dutchman drilling in a low cross to the feet of Sinama, but he
dragged his shot across goal and just wide.

Anderson was lively on the right wing, and the 17-year-old brought
saves from Matt Murray twice in the space of a minute with well-
struck shots from distance. Calliste headed wide in first-half
stoppage time after another good cross by Kromkamp.

Agger wasted no time announcing his presence with a great run from
his own half six minutes into the second period, carrying the ball
from halfway all the way into the Wolves penalty area before sending
a rasping shot just over the bar.

Calliste then failed to connect from close range when Potter did
well to drive the ball across the goalmouth, and Hamann brought a
great save out of Murray with a dipping left footer from 25 yards as
Liverpool turned the screw.

Anderson was then denied by Murray before Hamann finally broke the
deadlock with a spectacular strike from inside his own half which
caught out Murray.

The goal sparked an intense spell of Liverpool pressure in which
Guthrie (twice), Calliste and Sinama all brought saves out of the
overworked Murray, but for all their dominance the reds couldn't add
to Hamann's solitary strike.

WOLVES: Murray, Little. Jones. Ricketts (Gleeson 76), Lowe,
Rafferty, Cornes, O'Connor, Ganea, Clarke, Rosa (France 76).

LIVERPOOL: Martin, Kromkamp, Warnock, Raven, Traore (Agger 45),
Hamann, Anderson, Potter (Hobbs 66), Calliste, Sinama-Pongolle,
Guthrie (Idrizaj 76).

In gossip - Jerzy Dudek is now being linked with a move to FC Koln
but it's not known if they will be able to find the £3 million we
want for him.

Fernando Morientes says he is settled despite being linked with
Espanyol.

The Reds are interested in Luciano Galletti in Atletico Madrid
according to gossip. Galletti may be available for £5 million and
plays on the right of midfield.

Also the Reds are allegedly eyeing up Ronald Zubar of Caen in France.
