This is the first ever league meeting between the Reds and Wigan. Wigan
make the short journey down the M58 to Anfield knowing they are only behind
the Reds in the league table on goal difference.

Squads : Momo Sissoko is suspended for the match having been sent off in
midweek at Sunderland. Djibril Cisse returns to the squad whilst Didi
Hamann comes in for Sissoko's suspension.

For Wigan John Filan and Emerson Thome are both out injured for the contest

Liverpool : Reina, Finnan, Carragher, Hyypia, Riise, Warnock, Traore, Luis
Garcia, Alonso, Hamann, Gerrard, Kewell, Cisse, Crouch, Morientes, Dudek,
Sinama-Pongolle, Josemi

Wigan from : Pollitt, Chimbonda, McMillan, Jackson, Henchoz, Camara,
Johansson, Kavanagh, Mahon, de Zeeuw, Francis, Taylor, Teale, Bullard,
McCulloch, Baines, Roberts, Skoko, Connolly, Wright, Walsh

Team Stats : The two sides have met just twice in the past. That was a two
legged League cup tie back in 1989. Both games were played at Anfield
although the second leg was technically a home tie for Wigan. The Reds won
8-2 on aggregate and in the second leg Steve Staunton became the only
player to score a hat-trick having come off the bench.

Should the Reds concede one goal it will be the 50th league goal Rafa
Benitez has seen shipped under his managerial reign.

Player Stats : Djibril Cisse will hope to play in his 50th game for the
Reds. All eyes will be waiting to see if he is recalled to the squad having
been rested in midweek. If he is subbed in the game it will take him to
double figures.

Stephen Warnock has come on as a sub nine times for the Reds in the League
so far in his career. He has also been an unused sub nine times in his
career for the Reds in the league.

Stephane Henchoz will be playing against his former side in this one. Wigan
manager Paul Jewell once played for the Reds reserves.

Referee : Uriah Rennie - shown just eleven yellows this season from six
games. Took charge of the Reds' home win over West Ham earlier this season.

Betting : Liverpool 4/9, Wigan 11/2, Draw : 13/5

Liverweb Prediction : Liverpool 2 Wigan 0
