Head to Head - Premiership Head to Head
The Reds travel to Sunderland earlier than planned due to their
involvement in the World Club Championship in December. The Reds
beat Sunderland 1-0 in the reverse fixture at Anfield thanks to a
goal from Xabi Alonso. Sunderland finished that game with ten men
although that Red card was rightly rescinded upon a further check by
the ref.

Squads : Anthony Le Tallec is ineligible to play in the game due to
being on loan at the Black Cats. Bolo Zenden is definitely out for
the Reds whilst Xabi Alonso is still a doubt following hi injury
sustained at the end of the Portsmouth match.

Team Stats : The Reds have won three, drawn one and lost one of
their Premiership encounters so far between the sides.

The last time the sides met was back in the 2002-03 season when
Sunderland recorded their only Premiership win over the Reds. That
day Sunderland won 2-1 and they haven't won a home Premiership game
since.

That win for the Mackems came late in the game and ensured the Reds
lost their fourth consecutive league game. In contrast the Reds come
in to this game on the back of four league wins on the bounce.

A Sunderland win would be their 50th over the Reds in the league. A
Reds win would be their 60th in the league overall and their 25th at
Sunderland.

On three occassions the Reds have won 4-1 away from home. That is
the highest win they have had away from home. At the other end the
biggest win Sunderland ever recorded 7-0.

Player Stats : Djibril Cisse will be appearing in his 50th game for
the Reds if he makes it on to the pitch in this one.

Luis Garcia is one league goal away from double figures for the
Reds. A hat-trick for the little Spaniard would take him to 20 Reds
goals in all competitions.

Momo Sissoko will appear in Red for the twentieth time in this match
if he gets on at any time.

John Arne Riise has been subbed 19 times in the premiership for the
Reds so far in his career at Anfield. Cisse has been subbed nine
times.

Stephen Warnock has been an unused premiership sub nine times so far
for the Reds.

Referee : Phil Dowd - averages four cards a game so far this season.
In eight games thus far he has booked 31 players, awarded two
penalties and sent one player off. He is yet to take charge of a
Reds game this season or one involving Sunderland.

Betting : Liverpool 4/9, Sunderland 11/2, Draw : 13/5

Liverweb Prediction : Sunderland 0 Liverpool 3
