I want to stay at Anfield - Baros
By David Prentice, Liverpool Echo

MILAN BAROS wants to stay and fight for his first team place at Anfield,
despite bids by boss Rafael Benitez to bring in Dirk Kuyt from Feyenoord
and Peter Crouch from Southampton.

The Czech striker, with just one first team goal since Christmas, looked
likely to be a victim of Benitez's squad rebuilding this summer.

Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas claimed that he and boss of the French
champions, Gerard Houllier, planned to meet Baros in Prague this week.

But back in his homeland, Baros said he doesn't want to leave Anfield.

Dalibor Lacina, one of the agents acting for him, said: "Milan is now on
holiday in the Czech Republic and he doesn't think it would be good to
leave Liverpool now.

"At Liverpool there is still a lot of euphoria after that unexpected
Champions League triumph, and also the club has been awarded a place in
next season's Champions League. So Baros prefers to stay at Liverpool
these days.

"There are many calls from the Lyon representatives to our agency, but
as I hinted that meeting would have been good for nothing at present.

"And also Milan is not under pressure to make a transfer as he still has
one year certainly at Liverpool and as I know he wants to fight for his
place in the squad."

Liverpool have at least successfully engineered the departure of one
striker.

El- Hadji Diouf has completed a £3.5m switch to Bolton Wanderers,
signing a four- year contract.

Bolton boss Sam Allardyce said: "Diouf has had a turbulent last few
years, but now he can concentrate on football.

"He was a revelation last season and now we will give him the platform
to become one of Europe's top strikers again."
