HEARTS TRIAL REDS YOUNGSTER SEMMY
By Mark Platt

Jon Otsemobor has this week been training with Scottish Premier Division
side Hearts of Midlothian in the hope of possibly making a permanent
move to Tynecastle.

The young Liverpool defender has found his first team opportunities
limited under Rafael Benitez and spent the early part of this season on
loan at Crewe Alexandra.

A graduate of the club's Academy and a one time England youth
international, Otsemobor broke into the Reds first team during the
managerial reign of Gerard Houllier.

In total he has made six senior appearances, making his debut in a
League Cup tie against Southampton in 2002 and performing impressively
whenever called upon.

As well as a loan spell with Crewe, Semmy has also enjoyed a successful
time at Hull City and a brief stint with Bolton Wanderers.

Since returning to Anfield from Gresty Road in January, the Speke-born
22-year old has appeared on the bench just once, for the infamous FA Cup
defeat against Burnley. With his contract due to expire in the summer it
is unclear what the future holds.

Hearts boss John Robertson says: "Jon was recommended to us and he is
here for a few days so we can have a look at him."
