MELLOR FACING LIVERPOOL AXE

Liverpool's midweek goal hero Neil Mellor faces the axe for the Premiership
clash with Crystal Palace.

Mellor grabbed a decisive late double in his side's Carling Cup victory
over Middlesbrough in midweek, but Milan Baros is set to return after a
hamstring injury and join Florent Sinama-Pongolle in attack.

Xabi Alonso, Luis Garcia and Dietmar Hamann are also expected to return
after being rested for the win over Boro.

Palace will give late fitness tests to striker Andy Johnson (hip) and
defender Fitz Hall (knee).

Centre-half Gonzalo Sorondo is ruled out with a hamstring injury but winger
Wayne Routledge should return from a neck injury.

The Eagles fielded an under-strength side for the Carling Cup defeat to
Manchester United, but will be closer to full strength at Anfield.

Vassilis Lakis has recovered from a hamstring injury but may have to be
content with a place among the substitutes.
