The frustration is that if he was as much of a lover of Liverpool as he always claimed, he'd have at least signed a 12-month extension to his current deal as soon as Benitez joined.

All kinds of stories are being spread around now, but however you look at it there's no denying that it leaves a bitter taste in the mouth of a Liverpool fan.

Thanks for all you've done Michael, but I'm really disappointed you didn't feel you could join Stevie's lead and be loyal to the club for at least long enough to try and see whether Benitez was able to bring you the success you've craved.
