GOOD START PLEASES RAFA

LiverpoolLiverpool boss Rafa Benitez felt his side's first-half display
against Real Betis was enough for them to take all three points in Spain.
Goal from Florent Sinama-Pongolle and Luis Garcia put The Reds 2-0 up
inside the first 14 minutes of the European tie as they caught the hosts
out twice on the counter-attack.
Although the La Liga outfit did manage to pull a goal back at the start of
the second half, the visitors managed to hold on for an impressive away win
as they bid to retain the trophy they won in May.
"We started really well, we controlled the game and were good on the
counter attack and scored two goals," stated Benitez to ITV2.
"Afterwards we tried to keep it tight but it was difficult, but we created
some good positions and had some opportunities as well.
"But at the end the most important thing, I think, is to start with a win."
The Spaniard was also quick to praise the performance of Peter Crouch on
his UEFA Champions League debut.
The former Southampton striker proved a handful for the Betis defence and
had a hand in Liverpool's second goal of the night.
Benitez added: "We know that Peter can keep the ball and give time to the
others for going forward, we tried to do that in the first half and it worked."
