GERRARD DISAPPOINTED AFTER DRAW

Steven Gerrard reflected on England's 2-2 draw in Austria and admitted: "We
threw it away."
England were well on their way to three vital World Cup qualifying points
after goals from Frank Lampard and a beauty from Gerrard gave Sven Goran
Eriksson's men a 2-0 lead. But a late rally from the Austrians - aided by
some woeful goalkeeping from David James - saw the home side come storming
back to grab a point.

Gerrard said: "We couldn't believe it. We threw two points away tonight.
For 70 minutes there wasn't a problem and we were in complete control of
the match, but for the last 20 minutes we were all over the place and I
don't know what happened.

"It's a disappointing result considering we were 2-0 up and in so much
control, but we can make amends now by winning in Poland on Wednesday night."

Gerrard was thrilled to get on the scoresheet as he bent a vicious shot
over Austrian goalkeeper Alex Manninger to net England's second goal in Vienna.

He added: "I caught the shot lovely. As soon as I hit it I knew it was
going to work the 'keeper and it was great to see the ball hit the back of
the net."
