The Reds are said to be close to tieing up a move for Argentine
defender Gabriel Paletta. He is currently at Banfield and is much
sought after. It is said that he is due for a medical next week.
After that he will remain at his current club until the end of the
Argentine season.

Liverpool have agreed a link-up with Ghanaian side Ashgold as they
look to explore the African market.

The European Cup holders came to the arrangement after holding talks
with Ashgold officials last week.

The agreement could see Ashgold becoming a feeder club for Liverpool
allowing them first refusal on signing any young talent that comes
through the ranks at the Ghanaian outfit.

The partnership could be similar to the deals Manchester United have
with Royal Antwerp and Arsenal with Beveren.

Ashgold chief executive Kudjoe Fianoo was delighted with the
partnership with the Premiership titans.

"We are thrilled by the offer Liverpool have made us and we hope
that opportunities can be explored to the benefit of both clubs and
also Ghanaina footballers" Fianoo told Ghanaweb.

"We are in this relationship for as long haul as possible"

"We will strive to tap the enormous knowledge and networking at the
disposal of Proton for the benefit of not only Ashgold but also
Ghanaian and African football at large" Fianoo said.

Things certainly aren't going well for the Reds at the moment and a
lack of goals is hindering our progress. In truth this fear has
been there for a while but masked by midfielders scoring goals. The
worrying effect at the moment is the lack of chances we are creating
though as well. Early on in the season we missed huge numbers of
chances but now we're simply missing the target.

It's difficult with so many games coming around all the time to get
any confidence back up but perhaps not having time to think about it
could help. If we can get right behind the boys then we can get out
of this as one. Sticking behind the players is a key and the
players working extra hard will work.

Thinking back to Sunday and I can only hope that the FA start
looking seriously at the referee conning, mainly from foreign
players. I accept that Pepe Reina needed to be sent off as you
can't raise your hands. What people cannot accept though is players
making things worse than they are and cheating in order to get one
up on an opponent. Chelsea had been more clinical in the until that
point and deservedly won but this just sours the game. It needs
kicking out of the game but as long as the FA ignore it this will
get worse.
