DIDI: WE'RE ALL WILLING CROUCH TO SCORE

Dietmar Hamann today insisted the entire Liverpool squad is hoping Peter
Crouch can open his goalscoring account for the Reds tomorrow.
Crouch is likely to lead the line against Blackburn as the Reds go in
search of a victory to banish the memories of their last fixture against
Chelsea two weeks ago.

Despite impressive performances in his short Anfield career so far, Crouch
is yet to net a goal for the Reds and Hamann has revealed everyone at the
club is willing that to change tomorrow.

He said: "I'm not surprised Crouch has done so well because when you pay so
much money for a striker then he must be good. He has been terrific for us
so far and his performances have been of a high level.

"He leads the line well, he links the play and brings others into the game
and I know he now wants to score goals for the club. Everyone here is
desperate for him to score. I'm sure it's just a matter of time.

"He has not looked out of place since the moment he walked into our
training ground and in all the games he's played so far, including England,
he's played very well."

Hamann also defended Crouch after a section of fans jeered his introduction
to the action as a second half substitute for England in midweek.

"Peter is a confident lad and he won't let it affect him. I can't
understand where the people criticising him are coming from. It's totally
undeserved," he added.

"He's suffering because he doesn't look the most fashionable type of
player, but it's all about what you do on the pitch that matters, and we've
seen his quality already.

"If you ask any Liverpool or England player, or either manager, they will
say the same thing. We're not all wrong. Maybe there are some people who
just believe what they read instead of what they see."
